There are .001 grams in a milligram, or
1/1000 of a gram in a milligram, or
1000 milligrams in a gram

Milli- being the prefix that means thousandth

since you've gotten about 4 different answers i'll try to explain a bit more generally:

the gram is a unit of mass. if there is a prefix it denotes

1 gram * 10^x

where x depends on the prefix used. if the prefix were kilo, as in kilogram then you would have:

1 gram *10^3 = 1000 grams per kilogram

for milligram, or mg, you would have

1 gram *10^(-3) = 0.001 grams per milligram
