I know he tried to unite the Gallic tribes when Jullius Ceaser was conquering Gaul. I'm guessing the events took place around 60-20 bc it was before Ceaser was emperor. Read the book Druids by Morgan Llewellyn, it is a good fictional history dealing with Vercingeteroix

About 50-60 BC if my memory serves me. He raised the Gauls in order to resist the Roman invasion led by Julius Caesar. Got cornered in a town called Alesia and was forced to surrender after a long siege. He was captured and paraded in chains in the Caesar's triumph in Rome, then executed in accordance with the laws of Rome
Caesar described it in his book- "de bello gallico"- The Gallic War
