I've had quite a few aquariums in my time, both fresh and salt, and I may be ignorant but the Q is confusing to me. AROUND,,, as in create an ISLAND with the aquarium kinda buried in it somewhere?

A few questions I'd ask are, Where? Do you have space to devote? AROUND meaning the aquarium would be very visible with just some crafted ISLAND type landscape around it?

AH WAIT,,, OK my DUH,,, an ISLAND such as a kitchen island work station... whew,,, hope I got it?

If the Island is a work station then its height should be approx 30 inches, causing an aquarium incorporated in it to be less, and best viewed seated.

If it's purely decorative you can incorporate the aquarium at a decent viewing height, topping it with anything, that might relate to the Object of your desire.

With no offense meant at all, and in actually constructing "tanks" My view is the point. I want to see the contents comfortably, most often at eye level, and have easy access to the TOP allowing feeding, cleaning, etc.

Also is this to be a "moveable" Island/coffee table/focus of attention???

I'm thinking of a particular Mac Donalds local to me. They have a 150 gal. tank, surrounded by a counter for eating and seating. When one sits on their chairs/stools their eye level is maybe near 48 inches??? and should in most cases be centered on the tank.
