The Disneyland in California and the Disney World in Florida. Anyone?

I've been fortunate enough to go to both - there is a huge difference between the two!

DisneyWorld in Anaheim, CA is much, MUCH smaller! It is in a location where the city was laid-out in rectangles, with each rectangle equating to a "block". What I'm trying to convey to you is that there are 4 streets running one on each side of the park. And the Park is contained in one of these "blocks" - although it's a big "block".

The original Disney park is called Disneyland Park - about 10 years ago they built a second park in the area they were using for their parking lot - and moved the parking lot a few blocks away. They named the second park Disneyland California Adventure Park - it has the more up-to-date-rides.

The entrance to both parks face each other and a day in each is certainly more than enough - unless the kids need to go on every ride.

DisneyWorld Resort in Orlando is a whole other story - in the 1950s Walt Disney bought thousands of acres of central Florida swampland and decided to turn it into a park based upon what he learned in CA. First came The Magic Kingdom, a few hotels and the monorail, then Epcot with more hotels, Animal Kingdom and finally MGM Studios. There are about 12 major themed hotel complexes (each with hundreds upon hundreds of hotel rooms and unique features),on the resort as well as a free transportation network.

As a travel agent I send most families to DisneyWorld for a week or more - there's that much to see and do - not only on the Resort, but Orlando itself is a family entertainment mecca. Other parks in Orlando are Seaworld (Fabulous!) and Universal Studios (so-so).

For me to try and go into more detail would be silly, as I could not do either park justice. The best way I can help you is to give you the links to their two websites - take a look for yourself, but PLEASE, use a travel agent to book this for you - there are just too many options.

2007 is Disney's "Year of 1,000,000 Dreams"

Disney World hands down. Only place I've gone (out of the two) since my childhood and I have many memories there. Also.. they have 4 parks and 2 waterparks, along with 19 resort hotels, so it's incomparable. I understand the magic of Disney started in Disneyland.. but Disney World has grown to be the best place in the world.

I've been to Disney World a lot. I love it. It really is a magical place. There are four parks: Magic Kingdom, MGM, Epcot, and Animal Kingdom. Animal Kingdom, the newest park, is not that entertaining unless you like to look at animals. Magic Kingdom is really great for little kids because you have Cinderella's castle and little kiddie rides like the teacups. MGM is really cool if you're into movies. New movies, old movies, whatever. Epcot is really cool because you have the different countries. That's really cool because there are performers there from the different countries. Their name tags also say what their nationality is. There's also Downtown Disney where you can go shopping during the day and partying at night. There's Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon, the two waterparks. There's also miniature golf courses around the whole disney complex. There's also Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex where athletic events are held. Plus there are different themed hotels as well as your regular hotels inside Disney. I've heard they're even letting people stay in Cinderella's castle soon. That should be cool.
