Who would like to see a new major party formed to represent the true moderates of the country? The Democrats are going to far left and the republicans to far to the right. Wouldn't it be great to have a party that could take the good from both parties and represent our interests?

You could call this party the Know-Nothings!

That's the problem with so called moderates. They believe in absolutely nothing. Its just like Ann Coulter says "If you have the intelligence above that of a toaster you are either a liberal or a conservative."

And that is the absolute truth.

I agree with your idealism. I am probably the most conservative democrat you will ever meet. I don't support the Republican party even though I often side with their views. They have a tendency to force minority viewpoints on an unsupporting majority. I am a firm believer in giving the people what they want and letting them benefit from good majority decisions and face the consequences of bad ones. The problem with creating a new midway party lies in the truth. Very few people that hold midway views care enough to actually vote. In order to have an nationally recognized political party, a candidate has to run for office, and he needs to recieve five percent of the national popular vote. typically that means about 10 million people need to vote for one man that has no way to raise funds publicly. He would rely on personal income to fund his campaign.

I agree... and it won't happen until the people starts working on it. But I agree with other poster. Who would most likely vote for a third party are those who would vote (most likely) democrat, so it ends up being beneficial for the GOP.

There would need to be a "revolution" of the laws behind the electoral system (which would need to happen in congress so... I wouldn't count on that) so that would ever be plausible

I agree. It would be great to have a party that represents the true moderate values of most americans.

That would be great but the election laws passed by congress create a huge financial burden on a third party. The two have made it almost impossible to allow a third party into debates as well. (ie Max Linn FL)

Like the David Duke Party?

oh i think that would be great but it won't happen. everyone one wants their vote to count for something and voting for a 3rd party is a risk. like if all Independents decided to vote for the Green Party (or some such) in this last election the neoCONS would still own the House and Senate.

Whatever. Something has got to give. We need to remove the two major crime families from power.
