I've never used it, but I understand that Katakataka is similar to an essential oil in that it has medicinal properties. It is used for sprains, headache & burns.

A massage oil should be neutral - a carrier for a few drops of essential oil. If you were massaging a sore ankle, Katakataka could be substituted. But if you were treating, say, stress or hypertension or upset stomach, it could get in the way of the chosen therapeutic oil.

Almond, Grapeseed, Jojoba are good massage oils. Avocado is good if you want something heavier.
