To increase your reception signal, you can do numerous things.

Certain things are a given with signal strength. One, its rarely constant with interference, the broadcast strength (DBi) of the router can change and the location of where you will be with your llaptop can be more than in one place.

If you have the money, try purchasing a Wireless Card that has an option to add an external antenna. Just use your laptop as your normally would when the signal is great, and pull out the external antenna when you need a better signal.

I hope this helps, good luck : )

The most common cause for weak wireless signal is obstructions to the signal. Hence try and fix the router in a place which is commonly accessible with least obstacles and you should get a good signal.
