Yes. Until the 1930s, Presidents voluntarily limited themselves to 2 terms, following the example of George Washington. Then the great Liberal Democrat hero, Franklin D. Roosevelt decided he was going to be president for life (died in office during his 4 th term). So the Constitution was amended in 1951 (the 22nd Amendment) to limit people to two (total) terms.

Presidential elections are every four years on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November.
Presidents can only serve two terms. The republicans pushed that in after FDR won 4 terms in a row and they thought he was going to be President forever. Before Roosevelt, there was a tradition of only serving 2 terms.
And hey, lets not get down on somebody for asking a question. Better late than never. 9th grade civics was boring remember. I slept through "how a bill becomes a law" too.

Bush was re-elected to a 2nd term and he can not seek a third because of term limits.
2008.
And next year at this time you will likely elect your town government.
Some places have May elections. It depends on your locality.

Well, technically speaking, GW Bush could be elected again. Since he wasn't truly elected the first time but rather appointed by the Supreme Court, he hasn't served two terms for which he was elected.
But them again, how could anyone expect anything honorable to occur during the last eight years when the "president" was willing to accept the presidency under dishonorable methods? It may take the American people a while to spot a phony, but have faith, the American people eventually spot them. Phonies always reveal themselves.
