As one who has studied html, and java, as well as some IT information, and has began a website of his own, I can tell you that dual hardrives in a laptop with 100 GB means that there are two separate, (yet connected) hard drives. Each with approximately 100 GB storage capacity, now the computer won't let you use 100% of the capcaity of both drives, because the operating system on your computer will take up a small portion of that space. So, unless the marketing, and advertising techniques changes their ways of doing things this is what that phrase means. By the way the HP Notebooks are the best I have worked with, however, if you're getting ther products, unless you also purchase the extra insurance package from Circuit City, I would definitely go elsewhere, due to after market, and after sales problems that myself and friends have experienced with Citcuit City.

Dual will be heavier for sure. There are both 5400RPM so the only things you need to worry about is Power usage. Dual hard drives will use more power and produce more heat. If you do not need the extra 100GB go with a single. If you want two hard drives make sure your computer can handle it most of the time it can but you still need to make sure.

By having dual hard drives it means that you will have one hard drive with 100 gigabytes that has your operating system installed on it and another as a storage drive to put your files. You can store your files on the first drive but another has been provided for a larger library of files that won't bog down your operating system.
