I am writing a book and need to know what was the richest neighborhood in Boston in the 1920s. Does anyone out there know? What was the name of one of the streets in this area?

I think it was (as it still is today) the "back side" of Beacon Hill and the nearby part of Back Bay, roughly the area delineated by Joy Street, Pinckney Street, the Charles River, Clarendon Street, Newbury Street, Arlington Street and Beacon Street.

Beacon Hill, Boston:

Louisberg Square, Pinkney Street, Beacon Street, Revere Street, etc
Followed by "Back Bay" Commonwealth Avenue, Beacon Street, Marlboro Street.
