Well, he was either letting it slide or he was trying to make you feel guilty. Haven't you noticed that you feel the most guilty when you do something wrong and another person just looks at you silently? You know that you were late, he knows that you were late, and he knows that you know that you were late. He could be using this to feed the guilt that you already felt for being late. Or, he's letting it slide. Being late isn't the end of the world. Either way, I wouldn't make it a habit. Next time he may blow up at you.

It depends on what kind of job you have and your manager. In many jobs it is no big deal to be late occasionally if you are otherwise a good worker. Managers will give hard and or talented workers a lot more leeway on things like being late if they otherwise produce.

one day later could be simply for a lot of insignificant things it doesnt
mean nothing, three days could means a lack of responsability but of course patterns used to mistake theirs judges a lot, i think
