It depends, both upon the person and the profession.

I can almost turn my emotions on/off at will in person, and when posting on the internet it's as easy as pie. I believe that with more practice and attention to detail, I could turn off my emotions completely in person, but I'm not so sure that would be a good thing.

I believe that emotions are healthy, as long as you consciously choose (healthy emotions) what you want or need to feel, and keep a close watch for any negativity that tries to worm its way in. :b

it is possible especially within the helping professions...one may
become desentized to trauma or people such as morticians, police, pathologists, some therapists ect develop an ability to remain detached emotionally in times of severe trauma or difficult situations and ...delay the emotional experience until a later time. that is what happens when an individual experiences shock...sometimes it may be a learned behavior or it can be a biological response to a crisis.

Well, if they are overriden, then the person feels an emotion to want to not be able to feel emotions. So you can't not have emotions; not having them is an emotion in itself.

Only by you. Emotions is something you are creating out of ignorance..Do you really know who you are?.You identify yourself with your creations and trouble begun...as you may see your creations taking over. If you create them you may also uncreate them and , perhaps, learn their purpose...
