Since it is considered unmanly to express your feelings...guys will often have more superficial social contacts.
As a child often expects and doesn't always appreciate the sacrifices made by the parent. Wives and girlfriends often expect the financial contributions of the male. We guys are often only valued for our money and success.
A kind and moral male without money is considered weak and worthless.
We are less supported socially, emotionally, financially and more expected to make it on our own.

The above answers are very accurate.
Well I am a scientific person. But I gotta simply break down and say, its hard being a guy. The main reason is the responsibilities a man gets. The genetic properties of a man do deal with the female, and men are easily subdued. Men do many things for their short gratification with the women. So much so it has become male culture, where dominance and responsibility reign. The law hurts men often, they are susceptible to higher insurance, and the death threat of a military draft. Men die earlier then women, and the infant mortality rate for men is higher. While women exist in a kind, caring, culture amongst other women, men find their ''supportive resources'' are quite thin. With nobody to turn to, only men could produce a higher suicide rate then women, by three times, in fact. Some men take out their aggression on others, which adds to the label that men are aggressive, and this precipitates the cycle over again. No wonder most artistic depictions of an angel are women. Men seem to live for women. have long recognized this and felt heartbroken, as I ask myself ''What is the purpose of a man but to reproduce and die?'' No, men have a great purpose, just as much a purpose as women. But the great disease of society targets them still.

It's actually fairly challenging, probably a little like being a human female. Most of us males are terrified of the female of the species, and those of us who act the most self-assured are actually the most terrified. Males feel that they are under a lot of pressure to perform up to "standards" -- both socially and sexually. And the world being what it is today, there aren't many good role models. Ther hardest thing to be in life, probably for men and women, is open with other people. But this is essential for real communication.

Depends on the male human. For some it's a power trip existence. For others it's a fight to overcome that existence. And still, it is a animal-like battle for dominance and happiness. Good question. Grrr.....eat to talk to you.

I agree with Jake F, in that it is quite challenging. In most of our society, especially in the media, gender roles are defined by superficial and shallow standards.
I don't think that men fear women so much as they fear what women think of them. They want to be up to or above their perceived standards.
Many men seek to reduce women to a level that is more comfortable for them to deal with. They do this by objectifying women, attempting to dominate them, discriminating against them, and stereotyping them.
Other guys who have more confidence and self-esteem in themselves, seek to understand women, praise them, value them, and appreciate them. These are the guys who have better luck with women.
All guys fear what women think, they just have different ways of coping with that.
