Butterflies don't live long, and the broken wing will make it food for some bird. What may do to help it is give it sugar water and put it in a nice place where it can spend the rest of his life. But be aware- butterflies just don't live that long- it's just how they are made-so try not to feel bad if it passes on.

Unfortunately, butterflies are very fragile, and once anything happens to their wings, they are basically in trouble.
The most you can do, is provide water & food, and don't be disappointed when it dies. They only have a lifespan of a month (shorter in the wild), and this butterfly could be towards the end of the lifespan anyways.
Most adult butterflies drink nectar from flowers through their tongues, which function much like straws.

Unfortunately, there isn't much you could do. They have to be able to fly to get nectar. I guess you could keep it. You can find some kind of terrarium to keep it in. You can place pieces of fruit like oranges in there and a small dish of sugar water. I've seen them do that in butterfly houses. It probably won't live long since butterflies don't have a very long lifespan. I would say just to let it go. It's part of nature. It will supply sustenance to some bird or other insect eating creature.

AS a vet asst, i'd say that the butterfly really dont have much of a chance and im glad to see you are looking out for the wilderness but there is really no way to mend the wing.

Aww! I'm sorry to hear about that.
As others have said, butterflies generally don't live long anyway. So I don't think your little one will live much longer. But you can try feeding him sugar water so at least he won't be hungry.

if you care leave it there.as soon as you touch the wings of a butterfly you take off the material for it to fly,you will be doing more harm than good.
