I need a gaming pc?

I have a Compaq i bought in 2004 for 1200 and right now compared to the 800 ones at best buy it sucks so bad i get 8 fps on command and conquer on low settings.I am looking for a good gaming PC my budget is 2000.Could you recommend the parts for one i want to do it myself.

i would go for a Intel core duo,
1Gb of OCZ ram
2x 250gb WD hard drives on raid 5
case thats your choice
2x gforce 8800 (this will take nearly half your budget up)
this will be a killer machine.
