*cause their parents won't get off their backs! sometimes you feel like no one else is really looking out for what matters to you so you have to look out for yourself. and sometimes you just want to live your own life and make your own mistakes.
and sometimes you just want to go to the dang party and hang out with your friends and not be stuck in the house with #*% parents!!!!

Kids sneak out because they are trying to be autonomous and independent. They are at a stage in their life when they are supposed to be differentiating from you, meaning pushing away from you. It is healthy for them to differentiate themselves from you. However, if they are sneaking out of the house, you must also worry about where they are going and with whom. Also, you need a better security system!
Basically, you have two choices: get more strict or get more lax. Only you know which is better for your children. The question is: are you being too strict now or too lax? You may try sitting down with your kids and talking to them... communication is sometimes the best intervention.

Sometimes when parent say no and its is seems more important to the child -they take the risk. Usually the parent is right but the desire to find out their self over come them and they take the chance of getting grounded or some other punishment.

the feeling of:
1) a lack of respect for the child's own inner drive/passion/desires... and
2) to much control by those (parents/grandparents/teachers/"authority-figures"...) who don't really 'care' about what is "important" to the child or the child's deepest desires.
Parents (and others!) need to CARE about MORE than just the child's "safety & well-being"! We ALL (not just children) need to breath in and exhale to our OWN journey in this life and others of us would do well to remember that we EACH are here for our own purpose...

Most kids sneak out because their parents do not care for them. Ex: calling them stupid or dumb
Also if they are too harsh on the kid.

they like the idea of doing something that thier parents don't know about. It makes them feel like they are in control of their lives instead of parents always telling them what to do. It's a power thing.

they could be trying to escape any problems they have in their house. they cannot deal with them normally. they could have more explicit reasons for leaving, like meeting their bf/gf in the park at midnight or sumthin like that. it depends on the child and what his/her life is like.
