NO, there have been tests conducted with infants who have never read a fashion magazine or seen a beauty pagent. They were shown pictures of "beautiful" people, "normal" looking people and "ugly" people (the ratings were judged by a panel of the general public). The babies reactions were studied and they found that the babies gave favorable reactions to the beautiful people's pictures. While many grimaced at the pictures of the ugly people. They also discovered that the more symetrical a persons face was the better the reaction. What this proves is that our brains, just like that of other animals, has a built in detector of beauty. Part of our evolution I guess.

Listening to the T.V. is like being in a bad relationship:

It tells you what to do and how to live,
It doesn't keep you warm at night,
It won't feed you,
It makes you feel like crap by telling you how much better
looking every else is than you.
Guilt trips: "Well, look at these people, they got a satellite for "their" t.v. Why don't you get me one?"

And it drains money without actually doing anything but making you feel inferior and taking up space.

Oh, and the drinking involved.

Of course....images from the early 1900's showed women as large creatures with multiple layered dresses.....at that time men considered that attractive.

Today images show women thin, lightly clothed, etc and again...this is what men find attractive.

We are all programed by what we see on a daily basis.

Depends on the person. If they are highly sensitive to media they will absorb it. But if a person already assumes that the media is out to lunch they are less affected.
