Generally, before six months, bunnies' main diet should be hay, water, and lucerne pellets. Some say you can begin introducing vegetables at four months, some say not until six months of age. Most importantly, when you begin to introduce vegies, you must do it VERY slowly and gradually - begin with just one slice or one very small piece of your chosen vegie or fruit, and make sure it doesn't give her diarrhoea over the next 24 hours before giving any more. Please see my own website, where I've written articles on this, at

Here's another explanation of what to feed at different ages -
http://www.rabbit.org/faq/sections/diet.html
Don't forget, ALL bunnies, whatever their age, should have access to hay 24 hours a day, and water 24 hours a day!
Also, NEVER give lettuce and NEVER give cabbage to rabbits - lettuce and cabbage are both very bad for rabbits, can cause diarrhoea and bloat which can kill them -

Believe it or not for rabbits, eating just carrots is not good for them. They got the reputation from burrowing and carrots grow underground. They can eat most veggtables, in small portions. Dried fruit, different types of hay, rasins, generic rabbit food from the pet store. Some rabbits get picky of what they eat, but you can mix in little treats with the regular pellets, they should eat it.

Rabbits need unlimited amounts of hay - if your bunny is over 1 yr old he shouldn't be getting alfalfa hay anymore, but timothy, broome, orchard grass are all fine.
What you feed your bunny depends to a certain extent on age, babies have different requirements than teenagers or adults. Regardless, all bunnnies want PLAIN pellets (no nuts, seeds, treats), and a variety of greens. You can give your rabbit treats like a tiny piece of fruit of carrot, but not too much. IMO any treat from a pet store is probably not healthy for your bunny.
Here are three links that provides great information on what to feed your rabbit:

There are alfalfa pellets designed to maintain the nutritional needs of rabbits. Sold at most petstores. Other than the pellet diet, give them occasional treats, such as carrots (you already know that), apples, spinach, etc.
Try to stay away from sugary fruits such as bananas & grapes, and do not feed a rabbit any light colored leafs, such as iceberg lettuce.

Rabbits can be fed specially made pellets that you can get at a pet store. However it's healthier for them to eat green vegetables, carrots, and hay.
