I've read several things that mention the propensity of New England natives to move to other areas of the country. Do they really move around moreso than people from the midwest, for example? If so, why do they do this?

Is New England a depressing place to live, and as a result they want to leave... or what?

I haven't been able to find any research that can tell us if it is definitel y so, but being a New Englander myself I can tell you that the weather is a big factor. The winters are harsh and rather depressing at times. Also there is a belief here that most of the good jobs are being taken in this region and to be able to find a decent job now or to find cheaper housing, you have to move to the apparently economically developing midwest or the southwest.

speaking from experience,I would have to say that it is the weather...snow and ice as opposed to warm ,sunny days that last 3/4ths of the year. Also the prices of stuff and taxes are higher in the Northeast. Hope this helps.
