I love some braided styles, some of them though like those imitating crowns are just ugly imo. I used to have natural hair and it was really thick I loved it but I ended up perming again I want to wear more styles... I have kinky twist right now I love those too. To the girl who mention Alicia Keyes, lol we black ladies have been wearing braids way before she was heard it was not a trend started by her lol

I love to see black women with natural hair. To me its a level of acceptance. Everyone saying 'it depends on the person,' well yeah, like every hair style, it does, but that's the beauty of our hair, it is sooo versatile. Try different things, something will click.
As for me personally, I don't get perms (I press) so that I can go back and forth as often as I please. I do warn caution when braiding to make sure that the natural hair is healthy, and taken care of- but yeah, In anything, natural is always beautiful.

Only recently did I see a black friend with braids (like American Indians), and what a knockout her appearance was. Thick, shiny, long, they were really beautiful. I like cornrows also, especially when the scalp is brown. The first time I saw a white female with cornrows I nearly sucked all the air out of the room with my gasp, it just looked so silly. I got over it, I'm okay with it now. Time heals all wounds, eh!!! (whitesisters, remember to Q-tip your scalp with sunscreen, lol)

I always wondered why the "Afro" or "natural" style from the early 70s didn't stay in fashion; always thought that was a nice style.
And am JEALOUS of black women's hair----grrrr-----I'm seeing braids, beads, all sorts of waves and neat styles. My plain, baby-fine "white hair" just ***hangs there and does nothing***! The darned stuff won't hold a curl, no matter what.

I really love to wear my hair natural. I only wear perms during the year b/c it makes my hair easier to manage, as its long and think, for class. However, come summer and I'm back to the natural look because its just so REAL.

I disagree. I think braids look pretty on little girls, not grown women.
Also, everyone do not have the facial features to wear them. Miss Keys started wearing them and just about everyone jumped on the bandwagon.
If you noticed, someone probably whispered in Miss Keys' ears because she no longer wears braids exclusively.
You know exactly what I am talking about. Everytime a black celebrity comes out with a "new" look, everyone jumps on the bandwagon. Example, Janet Jackson when she had burgundy/Red hair. Clear now?

I personally love my wrap. True, natural works for some, but it doesn't for me. My hair is too thick. So, and afro would just be too much of a hassle. But the thickness is great when it's managable.

I THINK NATURAL WORKS WELL FOR SOME, BUT NOT ALL. IT DEPENDS ON THE PERSON. I LOOK BETTER WITH A WRAP OR SOME CORNROLLS STRAIGHT TO THE BACK
