Burly maple. Just got home from Michigan. A friend of mine has a "burl" from a red oak. It was cut from the trunk at 20 ft. It totally encompassed the trunk. The trunk at that height was about 3.5 ft in dia. The "burl" made it about 6 ft. Problem is they can`t find the equipment to cut it. Just gotta assume it`s gorgeous inside! One logger appraised it 10 yrs ago @ $5000. Love to have about a 3 in. slab from the center, would make a beautiful table.
