Do you understand what a pyramid scheme is? The people on top collect a good bit of money, depending on how many people are below them. The people in the middle may collect some money, depending on how many people are below them. The people on the bottom have no way of knowing that they are unlikely to get up from the bottom, and will only pay, not get anything back.
So, in order for you to make any money from a pyramid, you have to pass it on to your "friends" and have them be the losers instead of you. Some friend, eh? So the people at the bottom, who pay but then are unwilling to be dishonest enough to pass it on to their friends, to rip them off in order to redeem their lost money, lose money.
And when you jump in, you never know how close to the bottom you are. The more honest you are, the more likely you will never raise above the bottom. It is a scheme to milk the greedy. It always works. For those at the top only.

This is a type of pyramid scheme, and all pyramid schemes are illegal in the UK. If you join it after it has been established, you will not see any benefits, but if you are the one who started it, then you will see the benefits because your name will be in the best position on the list and all the money will go to you - which is why it is illegal.
As a general rule, if someone asks you to send money with a promise GUARANTEEING you to make money, it is a scam, especially if it came via e-mail. I remember receiving one of these through the post as a kid (before e-mail was around) - it's nothing new but e-mail has made it more accessible.

In theory a chain letter can work, however in reality they very rarely do. A few years ago they often came with a codisil or curse which stated if you do not continue the chain you will drop dead or something equally silly. Best just to ignore it.

Hi Lynn, please do not send any money to these people. These are all scams and they will eventually try and get your credit card/bank details. Avoid anything that asks for your money please.
PS Please also delete any emails where you don't recognise the sender, it can prove detrimental to your computer use. Some emails contain viruses as soon as you open them.
