I have thought about adopting but don't know where to begin and would like to learn more about the entire process. Any help?

I would recommend that you contact the child and family services (or whatever it's called where you reside). You can inquire about qualifications and see if it is possible to adopt in your living situation. What a marvelous thing it would be for the child, yourself and mostly for your disabled parent who would love the idea of having a little one around. Children are truly life-givers and I'm certain that if it is possible your unselfish act would not go unnoticed and the rewards (although perhaps not financial) would be returned to you 1000 fold. Good luck in your pursuit of adoption of a child in need of a loving relationship.

In my opinion I think, Yes. A divorced parent taking care of her disabled parent has the right to adopt a child. Just because a disabled parent is in the picture does not mean she cannot adopt and care for a child....She already has the first stage of a "family" atmosphere for the child she wishes to adopt..
