I just stopped taking the birth control pill in attempt to conceive my first child. I didn't have any side effects while on the pill, however, after over a month of being off, I have found that I have rather undesireable side effects. I find that I am more emotional, I have extremely oily hair by the end of a day (something I've never experienced) as well as a lot of facial oil (again abnormal for me). I'm just wondering if these nasty side effects are short term, or should I start thinking about how to deal with them over a long period of time. My other question is a poll, about how long it took after stopping the birth control pill, for most of you to become pregnant. Thanks for your time. Any helpful information would be more than appreciated!

Ive known women who consistantly got pregnant while ON birth control, and ive known some who it took them years to get pregnant and regulated after the pill.

The oils and emotions are cause from your hormones trying to rebalance themselves. Try exercising on a daily basis, eating a lot of healthy foods and stay hydrated.

I'd have to say personally that my skin went right back to that of a 15 year olds after I was on the pill. That was... about 5 years ago i think? And iam still the same. Oily, greasey, and zitty. Keep your hair pulled up, use a mild shampoo and conditioner, and NEVER use products with oil in the ingrediants.

Yes, the symptoms are side effects from going off the pill. It usually takes 3 months for hormones to return to normal but up to 6 months is not unheard of. When your period has regulated itself for 3 cycyles then you can safely assume your hormones are back in check.

I've been off birth control for 2.5 years and got pg. in October of this year but had a miscarriage early on.

I would think the side effects are only temporary.
I got pregnant like within a month after going off the pill with my second child. But everybody is different.

It's probably from starting up the pill. When I first got on birth control, I felt horrible, but I wasn't sexually active yet (it was for my acne) so I knew I wasn't pregnant. I'm sure the things you described are from starting the pill. And even if you were pregnant, you definitely wouldn't have a baby bump yet. Also since you got your period, that's a pretty good sign that you're not pregnant!
