A big Heffalump from the Disney Store or a nice outfit.
If you send clothes I always think it is best to get 3-6 month or even 6-9 month size. My baby is 10 weeks & nearly everyone bought 3-6 months. How she is ever going to wear all the clothes I don't know! Remember to take into account what season it will be when baby will be wearing clothes though. My friends baby was born at start of August & loads of people bought him 3-6 month t-shirts, shorts, cropped trusers etc. Which will be of no use to him whatsoever! What a waste!

You can never have to many diapers or wipes. After my daughter was born we went without buying either for the first 5 months and it helped so much. Once she grew out of her size 2 diapers we had to start buying, but it was fine with me, and if you prefer not to buy that then may I suggest something she can enjoy later in life like a doll that is soft enough she can sleep with now, and play with later, and dont forget mom. My mother in law gave me a gift card for just me. I spent it on the baby, but it was the thought that counted, and it really made me feel good to recieve something as well. Congratulations on the new bundle of joy...

My grandmother always bought me savings bonds and I love it now.

You could also send gift certificates for food! It's hard for new parents to find time to cook.

A special stuffed animal ... maybe embroidered with the baby's and your initials.

If you want to send clothes, there's a really cute way to make it special! Make a flower bouquet from them before you send it.

You can order a clothes bouquet here: http://www.thebabybunch.com/
(buy it in a size like 3-6 months so mom and dad can enjoy it before they take it apart!)

Or find instructions to make one here:
http://www.craftbits.com/viewProject.do?projectID=1255
(that one looks a little different, but it's still cute and they'd be able to take out pieces one at a time instead of taking the whole thing apart)

Oh how sweet. Congratulations. There are some lovely clothes out there for baby girls. Instead of getting clothes for a 0-3 mths or 3-6mths baby get clothes for 6-9mths as they will get loads of clothes for that age size. Remember what time of year it will be and get something that she will look beautiful in for that season.

So many things.

If just born now a nice warm padded suit with mittens, so they can show off baby even at this time of the year.

A teether, as babies can start this at any age.

Bibs or muslim cloths, as babies also are sick alot at first.

Baby towel with hood, as even if the parents have one always handy to have a spare when in the wash.

Congratulations! A basket with baby bath and oil, baby massage oil and other bits as well as some thing for the mum like moisturiser, bubbly bath, face packs and babedas bathing salts are great for new mums. Mums deserve a pressy to! I know i appreciated it. You can get moulds(kits) to make in plaster of Paris to take a cast of the baby's foot or hand to save for ever.

Onesies (find an Auntie loves me one of course!), gowns and diapers! You can never have enough of all 3 at the newborn age.

Congrats!

Get a Photo package from a studio.

I used Olan Mills and they have a "Watch me Grow" package of 4 sitting in a year.
