They both disinfect, but bleach is better for whitening clothes and smells a lot better, ammonia is more of a grease cutter. I used it to take off layers of wax on floors and I mix it in equal parts warm water as a excellent jewelry cleaner. NEVER mix them. It creates a very toxic gas!
