Ward is the classic. Funky houses with old cars and colorful decorations. The town celebrates 70s style hippie living. The other communities mentioned here have some aspects in some places with some of their people. In Ward it's the way of life. The other towns have some well off people in ordinary, even fancy houses, ie the establishment. Ward doesn't appear to.

Crestone is another possibility, but it's more new age. Eldorado Springs a a mix.

The #1 hippie community in the world BOULDER! trust me, fort collins has a lot of cowboys mixed and salida is too small. Boulder reeks of hippie tree huggers. it's like a whole different planet there. i'm still wondering where they shop and who does their hair...

Leadville is a pretty chill place. I'd say it's a little more hippy than Salida, don't get me wrong, Salida is a nice town, but there is a fair share of people who are not as hip-tastic as you may like. It reminds me a lot of Boulder, there's a lot of fancier, rich like galleries and such. In Leadville, people just seem more down to earth, understanding, real. (like every place, there are exceptions to this, but there's way more good than bad there!)

Nederland & Ward, both right outside of Boulder.

Boulder itself is no longer a hippie community.

I agree with everyone else. I would also have to include Alma and Fairplay.
