It isn't. The only rock thats out there or at least what people call rock is punk so no it is not dead.

punk was never alive to be a true punk you must not label yourself as punk so technically either you were in denial about your punkiness or you were a "loser" as the punks would call the non-punks. i think thats wat my bro says anyway
