I think it was a kids song, it just popped into my head and I can recall only some of it.

the clock on the floor was to big for the shelf, so it stood 90 years on the floor.
It was taller by half than the old man himself, though it weighed not a penny weighed more.
that's all I can remember..
the end part, stop, short, never to go again when the old man died?

Any one remember this song?? thanx

What a great memory! I remember this from when I was a toddler,I had the song on a 78 RPM record. Its called "My Grandfathers Clock",possibly sung by Rosemary Clooney.

I do not know it unfortunately but the lyrics are very smart!
