I don't know why politicians always find it necessary to answer reporter's questions. I would have preferred him to deflect the question and not answer rather than lie about it.

Put it to you this way Rumsfeld Didn't want to Challenge a Democratic Congress Knowing that all of the Dems Leaders and the American People want him to step Down and for good Reason, He can't leave with the GOP in Charge of Congress Right.

The Only one that send Rumsfeld Packing are the Same People that sent 6 GOP Senators, and 28 GOP Congressmen and Women home and that would not just the Democratic Party the American People, Good Job.

I think he had every intention of trying to hold onto Rumsfeld, and then the Democrats won control of Congress, and he realized he'd better change his tune quick. (Otherwise, the next two years will be awful for him.)

I think he's trying to use Rumsfeld as the fall guy right now. Once they get rid of Rumsfeld, all the "corruption" will be gone, and then he can assist in "making things better". (Of course, nobody actually believes that. There's more corruption in government than just Rumsfeld. I think Cheney and Bush need to go as well. Lying about sexual relations seems like small change in comparison to what they've been doing.)

what dingobluefoot said

and i will add, with an utmost of blatant 'self-rightiousness' and 'I am hipper, holier and better then thou'ness' ....that i am NOT part of the Bush bashing committee...i am him and he is me! He and I are no different

i think our future depends on not making villians and convenient scapegoats of each other and getting down to some authentic enquiery on "what does it really mean to be a human being?."

Long live george Bush! And you and I

Im neither for or against Bush, but - haven't you ever changed your mind? Why aren't people in the public allowed to do the same? We all act as if everything they say must be written in stone.

There are so many more important issues out there that we need to address if we're going to get the mess this world is in straightened out.

He did not lie, Rumsfeld submitted his resignation after the election because he did not want to put up with the moronic, stupidity of the libs after they take power in January. The President allowed him to leave so that he would not have to put up with all the liars.

Not really immune, just if we are going to nail him on a lie, let's concentrate on the BIGGER ones he has told, the ones that are getting americans killed, the ones that drove this bus into a cul de sac

I guess birdsnake can't answer a question, and should probably change his name to birdparrot...
