Just give out your school number and/or school email address. You can politely tell them that it's the best way to get in touch with you as you check them several times a day. I can't believe parents actually ask for your personal number!

Umm, the college has a splash style and the instructor could have an practise e mail (instructors in Australia do). A instructor isn't obligated to grant you their very own touch info and albeit, i've got under no circumstances heard of any determine needing them. I study your 'extra info' and you point out that some instructors flow away their info on the noticeboard - he won't experience mushy with that and that's his precise. If a undertaking such as you had ever happens returned then their are different the right thank you to restoration it: ~Ask your baby to verify that the instructor has marked what pages are meant to be finished in the previous he leaves college. ~Ask your baby what they're engaged on in college and finished a internet site this is approximately that (danger is it may desire to be the the superb option internet site and if no longer, a minimum of you have finished some homework). ~do no longer do the homework yet deliver your baby alongside to college the next day with a be conscious explaining why the homework wasn't finished and inquiring for the internet site numbers so which you would be able to finished it that evening. instructor's have very own lives too. are you able to think of if your cell telephone turn into swamped with artwork calls while their have been different lines of communique available to people? It does no longer be relaxing. A cell telephone is for acquaintances and kin to call you on. the instructor won't be able to spend 24/7 answering parents queries - they have a life of their very own to stay.

I am a parent of an autistic child and I feel I need to talk to teachers more then most. However i would never ask for a teachers cell phone. I would simply say my cell phone is for family only ,but you can feel free to call me at the school and even have a meeting.

I know I have a little different take on this. I give out my home phone number, but not my cell #. I work in an inner city school, and I tell the families and students they may call me anytime they need help with their homework or have any questions. I have been doing this for three years and I have not had any abuses. I feel that the students and their families need to know that I am there for them. And truly, it has not ever been an imposition.

Tell them in your teacher voice that it is your policy not to give out your cell number and give them some other options on how to get a hold of you. They should respond quite nicely to this. And thank you for being a teacher. As a mom that volunteers alot in my sons school you just don't get enough praise. GOOD LUCK

Tell them that it is "school policy" to call the office first. The school will put a note in your box in the faculty lounge. Just make sure that you always return their calls.
They may be asking because other teachers do give out their cell phone numbers. That is their perogative. You don't have to.

You can simply redirect them to your e-mail (hopefully one is provided for you by the school district you teach in) and/or the school's phone number. Be sure to deliver this information with the hours of your planning or times during the school day when you are available, and a warm, wide smile. You are not obligated or responsible for providing parents with any of your personal information and I personally am offended when parents approach me as if they are privy to this information.

I set up an e-mail account speciffically for my students and their parents. This way I could communicate with them as needed and they weren't phoning me at school as much. Also, remind them that they can always contact you thruough the school and that you use your cell for your private life only, not as a work connection. try " I prefer you contact me through the school or I have an e-mail account specifically for school use that you may have if you like."

Without saying no, just tell them they can leave a message with you through the school and leave it at that. If they insist, then politely explain that you don't give your personal phone number out.
