Landline is much better. Suppose your internet malfunctions. Then what? Or what if the power goes out and you need to make a phone call. With what? Your shut down computer? (Landline works even in power outags) Just think about these things!
Also, I would say landline has better quality.

Many VOIP don't use a computer just a 'voice box' and as iternet lines and modems are robust so I would not worry too much about Internet failure.
Voip will allow you to use the free routing of the Internet to call interstate and overseas, then connect to the local exchange once in that country or state, so it is basically a local call. Also Voip to voip phone calls are free, you just pay for internet usage, but a normal data rate is 32kps which can get as low as 4kps. Depending on your carrier i think you can receive incoming calls from other land lines so the only down side is a power failure, but if thease are not comon and you have a mobile it's not an issue

Can't see the point of voip. I get my broadband and landline through Talktalk, had no problems. I can phone USA and most European countries for as long as I want for no extra charge. With voip the person you are calling has to have internet, and both computers have to be running all the time.
