How to not get affected it? It's an ideal situation to stop any contact with such people, but it's easier said than done. Some things in life are obligatory without a why. And to block out any negative aura, is also impossible. Hence how can a person, be secure from any negativity? How to train your body, heart and mind to be pure of any negatives. After all we, all are humans, and creatures of emotion, lust, and desires.

Your last sentence is a cop out; "After all, we are humans and creatures of emotion, lust and desires", as if we have no control. We do. We have willpower. We can do something or not. We have choice.

How to keep positive in a negative world? Only one way I know of, get as close to God as you can. Know Him as much as possible. God is pure love, can't get more positive than that.

Live a simple life, study nature, eat fruit as much as you can, don't do anything for money, care for your body, get a hobby and choose positive people to be around.

By keeping it alive , one adds to it . You can always counter a negative with a positive .
