and you know they're fake, and does it bother you? OR is it sometimes nice to see a fake smile vs. being around a co-worker who's negative and always tells it like it is?

I, for one, don't mind being around the sugar-coaters...although it can get old, it sometimes makes a difficult day a little better. A smile, fake or not, can STILL be contagious.

I think in the corporate world it is necessary to be a little fake. I am not in it anymore but I couldn't very well go into a company meeting and when my boss says "Good Morning, how are you?" say well I had a really sh***y morning, the kids were a**holes to get to school this morning, my husband pissed me off, and I do not feel like freakin being here to give you a report that will piss you off because the numbers aren't where they are supposed to be and by the way you have lipstick on your teeth and your breath smells bad, blah, blah................Get the picture.

Sometimes I'm the one with the sugar-coated fake personality around a certain co-worker. She is the one who is negative and tells it like it is, and I have to cover up my feelings so we don't get into a brawl.

No not a co-worker but I have a friend that is that way and I can't stand it. They are always right and try to act better then others. Deep down they are cold fishes and on the outside they are sugar sweet and always right. I hate that.

Yes, I know a lot of sugar-coaters, they're usually the church ladies who go around brightening their corners...I don't mind them much, unless they insist on my responding in kind. You know the ones, 'come on, give us a little smile, you know you can do it'. I don't smile while walking...it hurts too much to walk. They never care enough to think that far, and it makes me FURIOUS to have someone try to force me to change my mood!

Not many where I work, which I find to be very pleasant.

I personally don't like "fake". And I am not fake myself, which is sometimes a problem because I CAN'T hide it. My supervisor is really good at maintaining "nice" but she isn't "fake" either.

I look to her example.

Peace.

hey, I artwork with this seventy 4 three hundred and sixty 5 days previous guy who tells me daily about how the international is managed by "the money potential" and determines each and every thing. yet he doesn't understand why the Fed is honestly not managed by the authorities and is continually speaking about the inventory marketplace even although he hasn't ever in his existence owned inventory!

Yes, I have one who sits beside me - total sugar-coaty voice, makes me feel like throwing up. As soon as the supervisor leaves, she back to her bitchy self with everyone else. Wish I could wipe the phoney smile off of her face.

i think everyone does - but its more prevalent in a sales environment - where fake smiles are common...

it doesn't bother me much... as long as the management is happy with my performance, and the customers i sell to are cool...
