(1) Albert Pujols, (2) Ozzie Smith, (3) Chris Carpenter, (4) Scott Rolen, (5) Jim Edmonds.
All Cardinals, sure. If you wanna name 5 Yankees, that's fine.

I realize Stan Musial, Bob Gibson, Babe Ruth, etc. were great but it's unfair for me to say they're my favs., I NEVER saw them play. I wasn't alive. It's like when a 18-year-old says his favorite band ever is The Beatles, you only have an appreciation for what WAS.

Also a Cards fan from St. Louis so my top 5 are...
(1) Pujols (because, c'mon he's already a legend) (2) Ozzie Smith (3) Mike Matheny (4) Chris Cartpenter (5) Yadier Molina (I know his offense wasn't great during the regular season, but he makes my top 5 because... 1. His ARM!! 2. His age... he's only going to get better. 3. That home run in game 7 of the NLCS. It brought me to tears.)

Maybe you are too young but how can Chris Carpenter be even considered as a fave player? He's bland and boring unlike say Bob Gibson or Joaquin Andujar. Even I prefer John Tudor and his smooth lefty style and all those flyballs he sent for Bake McBoo and Willie McBoo to gobble up in the '80s Ozzie/Herzog era.
