Well Georgie Yankees statistically have a better chance of making the world series then any teams since they have made the playoffs every year since 96, now that said he didnt want to play first base unless he was guarenteed two more years. Also he believed he's better then Abreu and yankees werent going to get rid of him, personally i feel all around Abreu is the better player but Sheffield is oneof the most intimidating hitters. But as a Yankees fan i wish success in his two full years he did a lot for the team even though he sparked controversy every now and then.

Its the best thing to happen to the Yankees in this offseason. Bobby Abreu is a better all around left fielder than Sheffield. Now maybe we can get the Tigers to take Giambi off of our hands....

He didn't "leave." He was traded because he is a complainer and is not good for the morale of the team. Has it ever occurred to anyone to ask why such a "great" player has been with so many teams in such a short time? The Yankees were glad to get rid of him as were the other teams he played for. So will Detroit after next season and all of his bellyaching.
Chow!!

the yankees traded him because they need pitching really bad and they got three young pitchers for him so they will last long...but the yankees already have enough power hitting and sheffield will just retire pretty soon becuase he is about 37...and with all the money he has already made he could just retire right now!!

I completely agree with Jbog, Antwaan, Katalax, and Mrs Beltran. Sheffield is a nobody who has been running his mouth and attitude way too far for far too long! I feel so bad for the Tigers to be stuck with an idiot like him.

im not yankee fan, but they might have gotten the better half of the deal
from what i heard they were all three top prospects, and al lthrew hard and did well in the majors
and what nancud says is wrong, he said he would play first, but they didnt want him to play there, cuz he's bad at playing defense there. I hope those prospects don't emerge and I hope the Tigers get the better half of this deal

I used to like him but now i see him for what he is: Someone who when they don't get their way they get pissy and start making jabs at people who never did them any wrong. I officially hate him now because he called Bobby Abreu a lesser player than him. So who cares why he left. He might've been good but good riddance.

Yankees didn't want him, replaced his position and there is nothing really left for him to do in NY.
I think he's a big ego with not much talent to back it up. He's Detroit's problem now. I'm sure he'll be sitting on their DL real soon.
