what a terrible experience for you........but just another example of organized so-called 'religion' butting in where it doesnt belong; namely peoples front doors and with their unwanted junky literature!!...theres an old saying; if youre unexpected and uninvited, youre unwelcome...well, now you know if it happens again....I'd have cussed her out with the rottenest language I could think of, and I don't usually cuss!!!!!!!!!!

If you look at the bible, there are parts of the New Testament that actually require Christians to proselytize and convert non-christians. Couple this with freedom of speech and religion and you have the makings of a Jehovah's Witness. They have the right to knock on doors and to proselytize.
However, you may post a no trespassing sign and have them arrested for doing so and you are not required to answer your door either.
The twisted hip is is your own fault...can't blame that on the Jehovah's witness.

They do this because of the fact their non secular leaders tell them that door-to-door literature distribution is needed for salvation. The Watchtower Society (JW management) teaches that for the time of basic terms "lively" Jehovah's Witnesses have of challenge at surviving the conflict of Armageddon. as a result, the Witnesses work together in the door-to-door literature distribution artwork as a manner to qualify for salvation. Witnesses income some converts by way of this technique, nevertheless that's particularly inefficient. as an occasion, in 2008, the Watchtower comments that its followers spent only approximately a million.5 billion hours "preaching." This yielded 289,678 converts. that's over 5,000 hours consistent with convert. to place this in greater potential words: the common Witness records approximately 10 hours consistent with month in the "ministry." as a result, it takes the common Witness over 40 years of "preaching" as a manner to land a single convert. This would desire to be the main ineffective, inefficient artwork on earth.

JWs believe that the world is coming to an end soon.
No... Really, I'm not joking!
There will be a war among nations, Armageddon, which will kill just about everybody.
The only ones who will survive are about 300,000 people who believe in Jehovah and do as told (they call God by His first name, as they feel He is their friend).
The reason they knock on doors, is to let you know what's going on, so that you can repent and save yourself. They feel that if they don't tell you of this, and so you don't know what's coming and don't repent - you will die during Armageddon, and your blood will be on their hands. The woman who knocked on your door tried to save you, in her eyes. That she didn't give a d**n about our twisted hip just means she's a jerk.
They have already set exact dates before, in which the world was about to end. The dates passed and it didn't. so they "Ooops, sorry - mistake in our calculations" and delayed the end some more. Everything going on in the world nowadays (9/11, Iraq, suicide bombings etc.) seems proof - in their eyes - that the end is near.
Besides this - JW is Big Business (capital B's here!). It is basically a publishing company (seriously!) that prints all the religion books, bible etc. If you are JW - you don't believe any of the other "mistaken" translations of the bible - you have to use only their translation. You buy only their books, literature etc.
I find this Scary.

that's strange. they ussually knock on your door until you open, if you don't they look in the window to see if something's moving inside and if it is... they knock until you open. That must be their new modus operandi, another way to avoid being rejected and obnoxious. I opened my door once... bad idea, they kept coming one after another almost frocing me to convert into one of them.
i think i know what happens with jehova's witnesses: they have nothing really important to do, you call it having a life of their own, friends outside their people or basically something to be busy. So they use Jehova as an excuse to have something to do.
My advice: keep away from windows and dont open the door if you're not expecting someone. They might look at you and that's not good if you're trying to stay away from them...

Jehovah's Witnesses feel it's part of their purpose in life to get as many people into their group as possible. They believe that the only way to not be destroyed when Christ comes back is to be a JW. In that context, they're being good, concerned people. But in a broader sense, they're being annoying because people have the right to choose and to not be bothered constantly.
I used to be harrassed by them, but when they found out what religion I am, they got scared off. They consider me beyond redemption and have moved on to people they feel they can "help."

Consider if you had lived in Israel, some 1900 years ago and one of the Apostles, or the early Christians came to your door. Would you also not want to be bothered because you were already a follower of God?
The Israelites were the first of God's People, but as predicted, they fell away finally rejecting the first coming of Christ, despite the fulfillment of Prophesy.
Christians were the second of God's People, but as predicted, then began falling away, in the time of the Apostle Paul, until finally they rejected the second coming of Christ, despite the fulfillment of prophesy.
Three is perfection in the Bible, so what religion will be the third and final one, in these last days, to represent God as his New Israelites? Is it the JWs, or perhaps the Muslims. It can't be all of Christendom, as Christ said most would simply claim to speak in his name, like Pastor Haggard. Is it your particular religion? If it is not the JWs, despite the fact their lives come the closest to what Christ expected, than who is it? Is it the Amish?

It goes a lot deeper than just annoying you at 6 a.m. The men have to be clean-shaven, no piercings. No smoking, don't observe any holiday, can't enlist, vote, salute the flag, nothing governmental. And cannot take blood. So even if you're in an accident and lost a lot of blood, you can't get a transfusion!
They're crazy, and it is a cult.

I remember them when I was a kid. My grandmother would not answer the door. I have no problem with someone expressing their religious beliefs, but coming door-to-door (usually early in the morning) is excessive. I don't like unannounced visitors at the door.
