In this story I'm writing, the villain is wearing gloves so no figerprints and he has emptied his pockets so nothing drops out to give a clue. What precautions should he take to avoid leaving a DNA sample?

In theory your villain must be COMPLETELY COVERED. Any part of the body that remains exposed is a potential source of DNA. However, your villain has a problem because he has got to get dressed in all of this protective clothing etc without touching the outside otherwise he will transfer DNA to the outside surfaces and this can then be transferred to his scene of crime. If you want a bit of sci fi then once he is dressed irradiate him or wash him down in DNAse and then detergent. Even then he has a problem because the outside will still carry contact traces of where he is after the irradiation/washing and this could provide a link back to him! If you villain is this forensically aware he would get somebody else to do it or fix someone else up by leaving their DNA at the scene.

Shave all the hair off his body so he will never leave hair follicles behind. That may become obvious to the heroes of the story later on when they figure it out and then they will be looking for a completely bald man. Maybe he could just wear a rubber suit. That would be hot though, and he would sweat leaving evidence. Maybe a wet suit. Good luck!

Almost impossible but he could go the other way and leave masses of DNA clues from hotel rooms and any place where the public go.

hair is always a problem, remembering that eyebrows and eyelashes are always falling out so maybe he could vaseline them. some football goalkeepers do this to help stop sweat dripping into their eyes.
