I went to a ski camp in Austria for new years 1997. That was a lot of fun. Any of those little ski towns would be fun for New Years. They all have lots of great little pubs that get really festive for the holidays and how can you go wrong with skiing.

This year I am celebrating in Copenhagen. I don't know what they do special here but my husband thinks it's the best for New Years.

Scotland is worldwide new years eve capital. - There is a ticketed party in Princes' Street Gardens from 9 on New Years eve and the whole city is festive. Details for tickets should be available from www.edinburgh.gov.uk (follow the links). - Glasgow is also good value and there are celebrations in George Square. - There is also Scotland's oldest Inn. - The Drovers Inn which is on the West Coast of Scotland on the West Highland Way.. The Inn has haunted house style old rooms which can be booked and the new years party is notorious in Scotland. - Staying ther also allows for great walks on New Years day. - Their website can be found on google.
