It's for a Xmas Box and I'm sceptical about buying something he is going to lose interest in (which is usually the case).

It depends on there age,
My two middle sons have both, they saved all year for the
DS and got the psp last christmas...
The 12 year old prefers the psp cause he can have music and movies on it but my 6 year old prefers his DS and never touches his PSP
My 12 year old sold his DS to a school mate,
I prefer the DS is fantastic and not as complicated and has adult memory games for it

PSP is good for Movies, Gaming, music (mp3)...more for 12+...
DS : games, more suited for the under 12's..
i would go for the PSP if i was you x

the DS is better in graphics but there are not alot of games to choose from. with the psp not only are there more games but he/she will also beable to share with his/her pals. most kids have PSP. so best stick to with the things thats in to be on the safe side.

Get the DS Lite. I found a whole crop of games for it are worth playing

psp offers a lot more, including movies etc.
