There is no legal way to upgrade windows without a CD. However, upgrading will only bog the computer more. What it sounds like you need is more RAM and a better processor. by the time you figure that out and a Motherboard that'll handle the new chip, you might as well buy a new computer.

It depends on your operating system now and your computer specs if you can upgrade. (Yes, upgrading won't help speed but if you want to anyway here's how.) You will need to buy an upgrade, and upgrading to Windows XP costs anywhere from $80 to $260 (Home Edition).
Otherwise, about computer speed antivirus and spyware is necessary if you don't already have them. Try Ad-Aware and AVG Free Edition if you don't want to spend a lot.

You can upgrade Windows. I don't know your current version or your specs but you might want to look into Spyware and virus scan first. A lot of times Spyware and other malware are slowing down your system. Look for adaware from Lavasoft and Pat Kollas Spybot search and destroy as well as an antivirus program, which ther are many good free ones. Try www,filehippo.com all these programs are there. As well after this if system is still slow try adding more RAM or other Hardware updates first.

upgrading your Operating System (OS) doesn't make your computer work faster. Speed of computer depends on its RAM, cache memory and bus speed. All of these relates with Mother board. Your computer is slow may be coz of viruses and spy wares. Try running antivirus software.

Probably something else.Try doing a disk clean up and then a defrag on your C drive. You can also download C Cleaner from www.filehippo.com for free and run that.It helps free up a lot of junk.

first of all try out defragmenting ur system completely, then try out clean up wizard then virus scan . and if all these do not help then go for a better RAM , maybe 512 or 1024 MB RAM would help if u play high end graphics games. finally if all these do not help then go for a new mother board n processor.....
