Lefty guitarists look cool. However, they do run into some problems.
It's hard to find some models of guitar in a left-handed version. Fender comes to mind as about the only brand who makes a lot of lefty models.

I'd check your local music shop (or musiciansfriend.com) for availability of left handed guitars before I made a decision. If you find one you like that's reasonably priced, then learn left handed. Everything's the same, just backwards.

But for ease in going to any music shop and picking up a guitar (acoustic, electric, what have you), I'd go right handed.

Other than lack of guitars, there's no reason to learn to play right handed if you're left handed.

Good luck!

I'm left-handed,i play the right-handed guitar only because everyone else in my family is right-handed and the guitars i play all used to belong to my dad.I think if I ever tried to play the left-handed guitar i wouldn't be able to do it,in the same way that if i try to use the computer mouse with my left hand it goes all wonky. You should go to a music shop and try some of the different guitars, and see which one you play easiest I suppose.

Before you go out and buy a guitar work out which style is best for you. Finda good tutor who has experience in teaching left-handed and right-handed players. If they are any good, they will have both types of guitars available for you to have a few lessons on each before going any further. The tutor will be able to pick up which is best for you. Then you can go off and do whatever you like - comfortably!
Left-handed guitars are easily found today in most music shops and generally cost no more than standard guitars.

How long it takes to learn guitar depends on how good you want to get and how much practice you put in. How good you can get with 1-2 hours a day for a few months depends on what methods you use to practice. There are effective practice methods that will help you make the best use of your time. This course is one of the best. https://bitly.im/aMCdF It's not just about how much you play but how effectively you play that will determine how good you will get.

play left handed...the rythm guitarist in my fav band (a7x) plays left handed. i think he has his own guitar line for left handed players. but they are VERY expensive. so, if you want to look into that. The guitarist's name is Zacky Vengeance. (stage name)

also, not many people play left handed...its a unquie way to play in my opinion

you should be yourself, but you are saving yourself a lot of headache if you can switch to right-handed. when you are looking for a guitar there are many more right handed guitars out there!
