I am 4 months pregnant and I have the urge to clean and make my house more homey. I don't have a lot of money to put into my house for like flowers and whatnot. I have already put my Christmas Tree up and put some cinnamon candles around to make it homey. Got any ideas on cheap ways to make it homey without spending money or leaving the house because I do not have access to a store right now?

THREAD POPCORN, YOU COULD EVEN DYE THE POPCORN AFTER IT IS POPPED USE FOOD COLOURING ALL X-MAS COLOURS. YOU CAN ALSO TAKE A COUPLE PACKAGES OF E-MAS TINSEL DIFFERENT COLOURS IF YOU HAVE THEM. PUT APPROX.5-8 SINGLE STRANDS TOGETHER THEN TAPE OR ( PUTTY) THEM TO THE CEILING ABOUT 8'TO 10' APART.COVER THE ENTIRE CEILING . IT MAY SOUND CHEESY AND IT'S DEF. A LITTLE TIME CONSUMING BUT IT LOOKS AWESOME. FIND ACORNS& PINE BRANCHES& OTHER DRIED OUTDOOR TRIMMINGS AND OR BERRYS OFF TREES AND MAKE A WREATH OR OTHER DECORATIONS. I ONCE MADE A BEAUTIFUL CENTER PIECE BY DOING THIS...USEING THINGS FROM THE OUTDOORS. SNOWFLAKES MADE OUT OF FOLDED PAPER OR TINFOIL ARE ALWAYS NICE. IF YOU ARE WANTING THE HOUSE TO SMELL MORE CHRISTMASSY TRY MAKEING YOUR OWN POTPOURRIE.PUT CINNAMON AND WATER IN A POT WITH BOILING WATER.IT WILL MAKE YOUR ENTIRE HOUSE SMELL REALLY WELCOMEING.JUST LET IT SIMMER AFTER YOU GET IT BOILING.OK WELL THATS ABOUT ALL I CAN THINK OF.GOOD LUCK...OH AND GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR PREGNANCY,I DID THE SAME THINGS YOU'RE DOING IT'S ALL NORMAL. BYE 4 NOW. kendra4001

I get these same urges even when i am not pregnant lol...but i would say go to the dollar store and find some fun cute stuff there...but as you said you have no acess to a store right now...For me however, i noticed that rearranging things alwasy seems to make it seem more homey...and its new so its fun....so i would suggest maybe moving some furniture around...HOWEVER>>>>do not forget you are pregnant and lifting heavy things may be dnagerous...but i was about 4 months when i arranges my bedroom ...and then 7 months when i did some more rearranging...i just new my limits and asked for some help...I hope this helps you in some way...Be Careful but have fun!!!

Yes, you're nesting!! Some people used to believe that the earlier nesting started the sooner baby would come--but this is just a wives' tale. Some tips I can give you--start cleaning out closets and drawers and cabinets, don't use any strong chemicals to clean with, start planning or working on baby's nursery. Congratulations on being pregnant.

If you sew you might find some old material and make some new pillow coverings. Get some clear canisters and fill them with different layers of pasta and beans to make something pretty. Go on line and research crafts sites for ideas. Start a holiday scrap book for the whole family, getting ready for baby pictures, etc. (make this an annual event to get a family picture for the book until she/he is grown and then you can give it to her/him). Make a "shadow box" for baby momentos. Dry some apples and make little Christmas "grannies" by making dresses for them on sticks.

Bake fresh bread, with whole wheat flour, it is healthy, cheaper and homey. I assume you can get food somehow.

Shop on FreeCycle.com.
You can post wants and offers. People may have things to drop off while picking something you offer up. Let them know you are house bound.
