yeah you can save the file onto a CD if you have a CD writer.

if you want to put the file from the internet onto a disc, you will first ened to download the file onto your computer and then use a burning program like Nero (Windows Media Player 10 can do this for audio files) to put the file onto the disc.

You cannot burn video files onto DVD with your drive though - a DVD Rom means that your PC can read DVD discs, but cannot write them. You would therefore only be able to save the data onto a CD, for transfer purposes to other PC's or for backup - this would be no use to you in a DVD player.

DVD writers are very reasonably priced nowadays, and you could probably easily get a bargain one on Ebay. Obviously, you would also need to obtain DVD writing software to be able to write a video DVD that you can watch in your ordinary DVD player.

If by "disc" you mean CD-R, absolutely.

If you mean DVD+/- R/W, then absolutely NOT.

Besides, you download stuff TO a computer. You WRITE or BURN stuff to a CD-R or DVD-R.
