In order for nipple stimulation to stimulate labor, it has to be pretty intense- like using a breast pump for a long time. Normal sexual forplay nipple stimulation will not cause contractions.

Nipple stimulation releases oxytocin and causes contractions--not braxton hicks. However, the contractions may stop or become lighter after the stimulation is stopped. For nipple stimulation to be effective it has to be done 20 minutes on 10minutes off for several hours--that's why many women chose to use a breast pump for nipple stimulation.

I haven't heard of nipple stimulation bringing on contractions or I would have tried that with my two kids. If you are trying to go into labor have sex or walk up and down stairs. Also caster oil!

Well you were a little vague on details here hun. Well it depends on how far along you are. If you are early on in the pregnancy then nipple stimulation can bring on hick's contractions. I am not sure if they could bring on the real thing though. I would talk to my doctor if I were you if you are worried. I am pretty sure though if it was the real thing then you would know it. Good luck.

For me it only caused Braxton Hicks. But towards the end of the pregnancy, I tried to encourage my boyfriend not to stimulate my nipples because it would cause milk let down. Let's just say that sometimes he forgot, and he revisited what it was like to be an infant again (much to his chagrin).

I read that if you massage the nipple and the area around it as well for 15 minutes on each one it could bring on contractions but I'm not quite sure if it works I haven't tried it

I tried it and it only gave me BH contractions. It has not worked for me at all. I hear castor oil taken orally works, but I am not brave enough to try it.
