Having killed a few garbage disposals in my time, I can tell you that, yes, coffee grounds and loose tea will clog it up.

How low-end are these answerers' garbage disposals? I grew up with having a garbage disposal and I'm 50 now You need a good unit, at least 3/4 horsepower. It'll take most anything. Peach pits, bones, pineapple peelings, etc. Coffee grinds and tea leaves are child's play. The problem is they don't let it grind enough. Grind until you hear it spinning freely.

Coffee grounds and loose tea are very bad for the garbage disposal,,,,not to mention the drains. They will clog up a drain real quick!!!!!

The disposal was designed to handle and dispose of cooked chicken bones, just not recomended. It can handle you coffee grounds, just flush with alot of water.
