If certain topics (race, religion, hell, even 9/11) of humor make you uncomfortable, does that reveal something about you, or about the topic?

I believe it all depends on the person hearing the joke. The reaction to a joke reveals something about the individual and not the topic. A topic is a thing, it can't feel or have a reaction. No matter who discusses a certain topic, that topic remains as it is. Reactions will change, based on who is discussing it, so it's always up to individuals.

laughter is a good way to release tension, check out The Choirboys film. When dealing with disaster and appalling incidents if professionals did not sometimes laugh then they would cry.

Even though the actuality may be atrocious the best way of dealing with emotions is sometimes to look for fun.

Personal choice items such as religion are always suitable for humour but things that cannot be helped, eg disability should not be used to embarrass or offend individuals

I think it reveals something about the person who raises the topic. Rude, crude and tastless humor is never funny.

i would say about the topic, there are some things which, to me, just dont have a funny aspect, 9/11, rape, child molestation, murder etc

other subjects might just depend on the person,,,
