I don't care about the damn points, all I wanted was to get to a level where I could answer and unlimited number of Q's... and I did that a long time ago, so I'm happy.

I think it is more of a status symbol for some people. There are so many people that cheat to get points(for what who knows) that it doesn't really matter anyway.
