Hmm, as far as the crime goes that should not be a concern-all one needs is to be aware and smart and that'l lessen the risk of an attack. People who fall victim to crimes are usually not aware of the person following them home, etc etc. Anyway, let's try and answer your question. K, well firstly i do live in Joburg-if I had a friend coming from someplace else these are the places I'd take him to visit: The first place would be Gold Reef City.I'm not sure if you have heard of the place, but basically it's an amusement park built on an old mining site. Aside from the rides there are also othere things to do there-There is a 4-D theatre, different shows every hour, a gold pour where you could watch how gold is made, there is a circus, hotels, tourist shops with interesting things to buy, there is a kiddie farm with animals varying between pigs and goats to tortoises and marmosets. There is also face painting and hair colouring for the kids, a seperate kids section where there are rides and jungle gyms. Ok, so what else is there to do...well then there is Joburg Zoo which has a variety of animals to see as can be expected. Right next door to the zoo is the newly revamped military museum which is fun to visit too. Mmm, then there is the Rivonia/Sandton area where you will find a string of great nightclubs to go to as well as different restaurants. We also have a few casinos such as Carnical city(which is one of the lower class ones), Monte Casino & Emperors Palace which are cool. Between them they have bird parks, amusement parks, go karting, gambling(obviously), shops, movies and plenty more. They also have the whole outdoor theme and so the roof is made like the sky and it looks as if you are walking on a street on the outside of buildings. There is also a tour that can take you to Soweto which is a major black township. It is a bit dangerous, but the tour is equipped with security. Otherwise I can't think of much else to tell you. PEOPLE ARE PATHETIC!!!! I'm a cop in JHB. yes its dangerous but you learn not to let crime get in your way!!! coming to JHB? you will have a real JOL (awesome party) theres gold reef city, an amusement park with hotels, circus, casino, apartheid museum and allot more. then you can go to the lion park. see lions living in their natural ways... DONT think they're lazy, once a Chinese tourist got out the car to take a picture and was eaten. theres allot of fantastic malls to go to. AWESOME restaurants with good cheapish food. go on a tour to Soweto (black township) very interesting to see how some people live. theres allot of really cool night clubs and VERY VERY HOT CHICKS!! theres Johannesburg zoo. theres ALLOT OF STUFF TO SEE AND YOU WILL HAVE AN ABSOLUTE GOOD TIME. and allot of sun;) ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only really cool place is O.R.Tambo. Once there you can jump on an airy and go to Cape Town!! ;) No sorry man I can't think of anywhere!

Nice to hear you are aware of the violent crime but hard to answer your question because you dont say what your preferences are. However, a perusal of your other questions indicates you like picking your nose and there are plenty of nosepickers in Johannesburg. Some even have their fingers permanently up their noses ( Airport,shops etc) so you should have a fun time swapping stories or bogeys.

Are you from S.A.? If not, just don't go to central Jo'burg or Hillbrow!! Sandton is a cool place to visit!! I never used to go to Jozi often so I'm not too sure of what's there!!

take a tour of downtown and you will see abandoned buildings one right after the other the residental areas are nice homes protected by walls and guards,go to stanton better sector
