its not so much an age its ussally after you've had at least one child. its more common to be done on a woman who has had 2 or 3 children and is 100% sure she does not want any more. there are some women who have never had children in their early 20's that can sometimes find a doc to do a tubal because they convince the doc they never ever want children this however is rare.

Most doctors will have reservations about tubals on women younger than 30 years of age. A tubal ligation or vasectomy can be performed if you have NO children. This is a personal choice and there are no laws regarding this. There was a time when most doctors refrained from doing tubals on those females under 30 or those that did not have 2 children since the opinion was that their lives revolved around being mothers but this is no longer the case. Meantime it would appear that a large number of people have surgery without realizing that it is to be considered when you count the number of questions on here alone asking about reversals. Anyone choosing sterilization should consider it permanent and not reversible.
Talk to your doctors about your wishes and if they won't help you, request a referral to one who will. Also, see if your man would get a vasectomy -it's a simple doctors office procedure while you'll have to be in the hospital.

It probably depends on your doctor. My neighbor wanted one with her second child, but her doctor and insurance refused because she was under 21 years old. Surprise, she was pregnant again fairly quickly, and now at 21 (and a few months after number 3 showed up), they let her get her tubes tied. The reason they don't like to do it when you are really young is that they are afraid you will regret it later. It is hard and sometimes impossible to fix a tubal, so they want you to be sure you don't want any (more) kids before they will do it.

Your best coarse of action would be to start with an OB/GYN if you are interested in a tubal ligation. The usual criteria is childbearing age but after you have had several children or are sure you don't want any more. Individual circumstances dictate
when a woman can have a tubal ligation. Planned Parenthood might also have information for you.

I believe that most doctors wont even consider before 25 or even later. I know a girl that was dead set on not having children and her doctor wouldnt do it for her and now she has a beautiful little girl, she is glad she didnt have it done.

I know that most doctors don't want to do it unless you are at least 25 or have three kids unless there is a medical reason behind it.

I hope that helps.

I am sure you would have to be atleast 18. If you are younger then consider getting on the pill. Have a talk with your doctor.

Depends on your reason. A doctor would be the best person to talk to.
